2 killed, others injured in violent night in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a man and woman were found slain in a room at a northeast Philadelphia motel. Officers were called just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday to the Roosevelt Motor Inn in the Oxford Circle neighborhood for what is being investigated as a double homicide. A police spokeswoman said preliminary information indicates that the as-yet-unidentified victims were found unresponsive "with white plastic bags over their heads and their hands tied behind their backs." Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced both victims dead at the scene about 10 minutes later. Police said no arrests had been made. There was no immediate word on a cause of death.
