Inmate who died in Luzerne County prison incident had lengthy rap sheet

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Luzerne County prison guard killed in <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/566640/luzerne-county-prison-on-lockdown-after-elevator-incident" target="_blank">a Monday night incident inside the Water Street facility</a> has been identified as 25-year-old Kristopher Moules, according to the county Coroner&#8217;s Office.</p><p>County Coroner William Lisman said Moules, of Larksville, was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. by a doctor at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.</p><p>An autopsy performed Tuesday morning concluded Moules died of multiple traumatic injuries due to a fall, he said.</p><p>Lisman said the manner of death will be determined soon pending further review.</p><p>Moules, who died along with <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/566799/inmate-who-died-in-luzerne-county-prison-incident-had-lengthy-rap-sheet" target="_blank">inmate Timothy Darnelle Gilliam Jr.</a>, was hired as a county prison guard on Sept. 14 at a salary of $31,745, county records show.</p><p>Gilliam, 27, who was originally from New York, also died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries due to a fall based on an autopsy performed Tuesday, Lisman said. The manner of death has been ruled accidental, Lisman said.</p><p>Gilliam was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m. at Wilkes-Barre General, Lisman said.</p><p>County Manager C. David Pedri and county District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said they expect to hold a briefing, possibly jointly, to discuss the latest developments in the case Tuesday afternoon.</p><p>Numerous sources say the deaths occurred during a physical encounter in which the men crashed through an elevator and fell several floors down the elevator shaft.</p><style>
