Man convicted in 2015 double fatal shooting during drug deal

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man whose sentence was overturned by a federal appeals court has been re-sentenced to six years behind bars for his role in a mortgage fraud scheme. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports (http://bit.ly/2a51kNU ) the new prison term was handed down Monday against 33-year-old Jason Moreno. The Shaler man was convicted of fraud and conspiracy in 2013 in a $9 million mortgage fraud scheme. He was originally sentenced to eight years in prison. But an appeals court overturned the sentence because a prosecutor cross-examined him during his final statement. During his original sentencing hearing, Moreno said he accepted responsibility for the crimes. But the prosecutor then questioned him and used his responses in his sentencing argument.
