Lottery Summary for the Week of July 17

<p>Back Mountain swept a pair of games from Dunmore to capture the Section 5 Junior Baseball championship Saturday afternoon at Dallas High School and a berth in the state playoffs.</p><p>Back Mountain won the opener 8-6 by scoring four times with two outs in the seventh and clinched the title with an 18-8 victory in the nightcap. The team will head to Cranberry Little League and open the state tournament at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday against the Section 8 champion.</p><p>Jake Connolly sparked the win in the first game with a bases-loaded triple with two outs to put Back Mountain ahead. Sam Nocita had a double, single and two RBI. Todd Phillips added an RBI single. Alex Magdalinski was the winner, pitching in relief of Phillips.</p><p>Steve Borgia had a two-run double for Dunmore. Dan Walsh had three hits and an RBI.</p><p>Kyle Sincavage paced Back Mountain in the 18-8 victory with two hits and three RBI. Magdalinski had a double, single and an RBI. Andrew Martin added a two-run single.</p><p>Walsh had a two-run double for Dunmore. Tom Lewis knocked in two runs with a single. Frank Ruggiero added two hits.</p><p><strong>SECTION 5</strong></p><p><strong>10-11 SOFTBALL</strong></p><p><strong>Pittston Area 10, Old Forge 5</strong></p><p>Sofia Quaglia had three hits and Izzy Pisano and Taylor Bairera added two each as Pittston Area won the elimination bracket final.</p><p>Pitcher Ava Serino struck out seven for Pittston Area, which will play undefeated Archbald at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Old Forge Little League.</p><p>Kamera Parker had two hits for Old Forge.</p><style>

<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta><p>Times Leader</p></bylineMeta></div><div class="metaInfo"><factboxMeta><p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Nanticoke starts title quest</strong></p><p>District 16 and Section 5 champion Nanticoke will begin its journey for a Little League Major Baseball state championship when it plays at 10 a.m. Sunday against Section 8 champ Morrisville at the Rostraver Township Little League.</p><p>The eight-team, double-elimination tournament continues all week at the Rostraver Township complex, which is south of Pittsburgh.</p><p>If Nanticoke wins Sunday, it plays at 4 p.m. Monday against the winner of Sunday&#8217;s game between Section 6 champ Warwick Township and West Side. If it loses, it plays 10 a.m. Monday in an elimination game against the Warwick Twp./West Side loser.</p><p>All teams are guaranteed three games at the state tournament.
