Hanover township police: Three arrested following search of a Barr Lane residence

<p>WILKES-BARRE TWP. &#8212; A 2-year-old is in the custody of Luzerne County Children and Youth Services after being left alone in a car on Sunday for about 30 minutes, according to police.</p><p>Police said they responded to the parking lot of Price Chopper on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard at about 1:40 p.m. for the report of a child left alone in a light blue Chrysler Pacifica.</p><p>Police said that when they arrived on scene, a woman had managed to get the child, who she said appeared to be in distress and sweating profusely, out of the car. The woman told police she removed the child&#8217;s shirt and gave him water.</p><p>The woman reportedly sent someone inside the store to make an announcement over the store&#8217;s intercom. But, despite several attempts to page the child&#8217;s guardian, no one returned to the vehicle, police said.</p><p>According to police, the child&#8217;s mother, Rosemine Chery, 28, of Wilkes-Barre, arrived on scene from inside Price Chopper approximately seven minutes after police arrived.</p><p>Chery was uncooperative in answering questions and sobbed severely to the point that she began to hyperventilate and threw herself onto the ground when police tried to question her about the incident, police said.</p><p>Police said TransMed Ambulance arrived on scene and took the child&#8217;s temperature, which gave a reading of 102 degrees, even after his shirt was removed, drinking water and being outside the car for several minutes.</p><p>TransMed transported the child to the hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion.</p><p>Chery was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. Charges are pending the review of the Luzerne County District Attorney&#8217;s Office, police said.</p><p>The child was released from the hospital to the custody of Children and Youth.</p><style>
