Letter to the Editor: Concealed carry law can be problematic when police approach suspects

<p>They say if you build it, they will come. I say, if you remodel it, they will come as well. Or will they?</p><p>To what am I referring? The Kingston Post Office.</p><p>Let me explain. I am a window clerk at the Wilkes-Barre Post Office, of which the Kingston Post Office is a branch.</p><p>Over the past couple of years, residents from the Kingston area would come into the Wilkes-Barre Post Office to take care of their mailing and shipping needs. I, along with my co-workers, will often question customers as to why they would make the longer trip to Wilkes-Barre when the Kingston Post Office is in their backyard. More often than not, we get that puzzled look and the reply, &#8220;Oh, I thought it was closed!&#8221;</p><p>We politely explain that the building that houses the post office had been for sale for a while, but the Kingston Post Office always was open and always will be open.</p><p>The building was sold to Peoples Security Bank. The post office has been completely remodeled, and even though the area has been slightly downsized, it will still meet all of your mailing and shipping needs.</p><p>Clerks Jim and Pam are two of the most experienced window clerks we have, and they easily will help you with any question you might have about mailing your items to surrounding areas or anywhere outside the United States.</p><p>The only problem is that not that many of you are using this facility. How do we know? All transactions are logged into the postal system, and the postal officials who decide how many hours of operation are needed see these numbers. We have lost underperforming offices throughout the country as the Postal Service continues to downsize in order to cut costs and save money; so please, do not let this office become a statistic.</p><p>What can you do to prevent this office from having its hours reduced, or even being chosen for closure? You must use this facility to its fullest potential and spread the word that this office is indeed open for business. </p><p>On behalf of all employees of the Postal Service, we look forward to serving your every delivery need, no matter where you might visit us.
