WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; Pennsylvania State Education Association northeast region spokesman Paul Shemansky said information he provided last week regarding school district contract negotiations had one error: The Crestwood School District support staff did finalize a new contract.Lead negotiator Matt Gruenloh, a PSEA representative, said it included several concessions.Gruenloh said the error probably resulted from his schedule, which forced him to miss several meetings at the PSEA office earlier this year. That meant Shemansky didn&#8217;t update the list of contracts under negotiation.Gruenloh said the negotiations for the Crestwood support staff contract &#8212; which expired in 2013 &#8212; had been difficult, but that things changed after last November&#8217;s election and several new board members came on.The contract runs from 2013 into 2018, with no retroactive pay increases, which Gruenloh said was effectively a pay freeze. For the remaining three years of the contract, hourly rates go up 50 cents the first year and 75 cents the next two.The contract includes other cost saving changes, Gruenloh said:&#8226; The amount of health insurance premium paid by the workers goes up slightly for the last two years. Currently, employees pay either 4 percent of the premium or 1.5 percent of their salary &#8212; whichever is less.
