TOP STORIES: PENNSYLVANIA ATTORNEY GENERAL PHILADELPHIA — About 150 potential jurors are in a suburban Philadelphia courtroom as Pennsylvania's attorney general goes on trial in a perjury and obstruction case that follows a four-year term rocked by petty feuds, political intrigue and a pornographic email scandal. Kathleen Kane remains on the job even though she lost her law license over the felony arrest. LIQUOR PRIVATIZATION HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania's alcohol regulators are taking applications for permits under the expanded sales of booze approved by the Legislature and Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf earlier this summer. The Liquor Control Board said the law that went into effect Monday lets about 11,000 businesses that currently have what's called restaurant or hotel licenses, which let them sell beer to go, apply for permission to also sell takeout wine. FIVE DIE-PENNSYLVANIA SINKING SPRING — A Pennsylvania woman found dead alongside her husband and three children in an apparent murder-suicide had told friends on social media that she planned to leave him. The Reading Eagle reports that Megan Short alleged abuse and posted on Facebook that she needed help moving out of the family's home in Sinking Spring home Saturday, the day authorities discovered the family shot dead. FAKE HONORS STUDENT HARRISBURG — A 23-year-old Ukrainian man accused of faking his name and age while attending a Pennsylvania high school and having sex with an underage girl has pleaded guilty. FATHER'S HEART SWISSVALE — A Pennsylvania woman who was married this weekend had her late father's spirit with her — and his heart. Jeni Stepien was escorted down the aisle Saturday by the man who received her father's heart 10 years ago when her father was killed by a mugger. ELSEWHERE: OBIT-ROCK ON CAR-HUSBAND COLUMBUS, Ohio —The husband of a schoolteacher critically injured when a rock was dropped on her car from a Pennsylvania highway overpass has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said. Randy Budd was pronounced dead at his Uniontown home late Saturday, Harry Campbell, chief investigator for Ohio's Stark County coroner's office, told The Associated Press on Sunday. Budd was 55. TURKEY-MILITARY COUP ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish authorities have detained at least 10 foreign nationals suspected of ties to a U.S.-based cleric whom Turkey accuses of masterminding the July 15 failed coup, a senior official said Monday. At least four of them had been formally arrested pending trial while a fifth person had been released, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus told reporters after a Cabinet meeting. WPVI-TV reports the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday at a home in South Philadelphia. —KIDNAPPING-BEATING-SUSPECTS WANTED — Police in Pittsburgh are searching for three people who they say are accused of kidnapping and torturing a man for days, kicking and beating him unconscious with a hammer. —PASSENGER DIES-FLIGHT — Officials say a passenger on board a Philadelphia-bound plane from Paris died during a flight over the weekend. —ELEVATOR MISHAP-PHILADELPHIA — Court officials say the elevators in Philadelphia's main courthouse have been deemed safe and the facility will open for business following last week's elevator malfunction that critically injured a sheriff's sergeant.
