<p>The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins re-signed forward Jarrett Burton to an American Hockey League contract on Thursday. The one-year deal is the first AHL contract of Burton&#8217;s pro career.</p><p>Burton saw action in 23 games with the Penguins last season while playing under a professional tryout contract. The 25-year-old from Echo Bay, Ont. recorded two goals for two total points last season, which marked his first appearance in the AHL. His second goal, which came on April 9, proved to be the game-winner in a 4-3 win over the Hershey Bears.</p><p>During the 2015-16 season with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), Burton led the team in goals (15) and points (38) at the time of his PTO signing with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Feb. 6. He returned to Wheeling for the Kelly Cup Playoffs in April where he totaled 14 points (7G-7A) in 21 postseason games.</p><style>
