Letter to the editor: All Olympians earn praise

<p>FORTY FORT &#8212; Borough residents will head to Betty Mascelli Park Friday, equipped with tents, sleeping bags and scary stories for an end-of-summer campout.</p><p>Mayor Andy Tuzinski said the event, and others like it throughout the summer, provides an opportunity for the borough to build a sense of community that is not only fun, but contributes to safe neighborhoods.</p><p>Also present will be several borough police officers, with their families, to ensure the night runs smoothly and provide further opportunity for residents to familiarize themselves with members of law enforcement.</p><p>Tuzinski said such events go beyond a chance to partake in a bit of recreation and fellowship.</p><p>Being familiar with neighbors, Tuzinski has said, makes it more likely residents can spot activity outside of the ordinary.</p><p>Beyond that, Tuzinski said the campout is simply fun.</p><p>&#8220;What could be more fun than sleeping at the park?&#8221; he asked.</p><p>Tuzinski remembers sleeping outdoors as a youngster on warm summer nights and said the campout will be a chance to participate in old school activities, including a campfire complete with the roasting of s&#8217;mores and hotdogs.</p><p>Attendees will also have a chance to enjoy a &#8220;movie in the park,&#8221; an activity that has been popular with the younger set this summer.</p><p>Amy Craig, council member and vice president of Families for Forty Fort Park, an organization that sponsors the event, said she came up with the idea because she envisioned the excitement of residents sleeping in the park.</p><p>Residents of the borough, she said, have been very cooperative and eager to participate in community events.</p><p>Craig assumed her seat on the council after the recent death of her mother-in-law, Dottie Craig, who served on council and was instrumental in organizing community activities, especially those aimed at children.</p><p>Amy Craig is anticipating the campout will be a great success because of feedback she has received from residents.</p><p>&#8220;We hope to make this an annual event,&#8221; she said. &#8220;A tradition.&#8221;</p><style>
