Crestwood High School’s Abbey Murphy repeats national championship at FBLA National Leadership Conference

Certified Elder Law Attorneys Tammy A. Weber, Matthew J. Parker and Elizabeth A. White of the law firm of Marshall, Parker &amp; Weber presented at the 19th Annual Elder Law Institute in Lancaster July 21 and 22. Known as one of the leading elder law conferences in the country, attorneys from across Pennsylvania attended the two-day institute.Weber and White co-presented on &#8220;Issues and Practical Solutions for Nursing Home Clients.&#8221; Using the results of a survey completed by nursing home administrators and social workers, the two explored pragmatic approaches to both anticipate and solve problems that commonly occur with nursing home clients, including issues involving nursing home contracts, termination of therapy services, billing and payment and care plans.Parker presented a session on &#8220;Medical Assistance and Veterans Benefit Planning with Annuities.&#8221; Parker is a nationally known expert on how to protect community spouses from financial devastation when their husband or wife needs long-term care. He was the lead attorney in the federal case, James v. Richman, which upheld annuity based planning.In conjunction with the Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Association Elder Law Section held its annual meeting. At this meeting, Weber was nominated by committee and elected by vote of the membership to serve in the position of Chair Elect of the Elder Law Committee for the upcoming year.
