<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Leo A. Glodzik III could be a free man a little while longer.</p><p>Glodzik&#8217;s attorney, Joseph F. Sklarosky Sr., asked a federal judge Thursday to continue the former city tower turned convicted felon&#8217;s latest sentencing date of Aug. 29 because of a planned 18-day trip to Alaska.</p><p>Sklarosky said he leaves for vacation Aug. 30 and had planned to use the proposed sentencing date to prepare for the trip, according to the federal court filing. He has asked U.S. District Judge A. Richard Caputo to continue the sentencing until he returns on Sept. 16.</p><p>Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Olshefski, who is prosecuting, has no objection since she will also be unavailable that day, Sklarosky noted.</p><p>Caputo originally scheduled Glodzik&#8217;s sentencing for Aug. 16 after Glodzik <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/535907/leo-a-glodzik-iii-pleads-guilty-to-charges-of-mail-fraud-filing-false-income-tax-return" target="_blank">pleaded guilty in April to mail fraud, being a felon in possession of a firearm and filing false tax returns.</a> The judge on Aug. 15 signed an order pushing the sentencing to Aug. 29.</p><p>Glodzik, 45, of Morgan Drive, Wilkes-Barre, spent a little over three months in county prison last year on a 2014 theft conviction after jury found he stole $2,100 in bait money that he believed to be seized drug money, which he tried to share part of with a state trooper posing as a &#8220;dirty&#8221; officer.</p><p><a href="https://www.timesleader.com/top-stories/424448/former-wilkes-barre-towing-contract-leo-glodzik-granted-parole-after-serving-theft-sentence" target="_blank">He was granted parole in September</a> and, after entering his plea on the latest set charges in April, was released under supervision of the court pending sentencing.</p><p>Glodzik faces a maximum penalty of 33 years in prison, fines totaling up to $750,000 and three years of supervised release, prosecutors said.</p><p>However, if he can &#8220;adequately demonstrate recognition and affirmative acceptance of responsibly,&#8221; prosecutors will recommend a reduced offense level for sentencing, according to the 27-page plea agreement.</p><style>
