Parade, tomato fights highlight busiest day of Pittston Tomato Festival

Classic boats take to Harveys Lake

<p>LONG POND &#8212; Heavy hearts surround the IndyCar garage before Sunday&#8217;s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway.</p><p>Especially for Dale Coyne Racing, the same team the late Bryan Clauson drove for in this year&#8217;s Indianapolis 500.</p><p>Clauson succumbed to injuries sustained in a violent wreck at a Kansas dirt track two weeks ago and DCR is paying tribute to the fallen racer this weekend at the Tricky Triangle.</p><p>Conor Daly is sporting the same number Clauson drove in IndyCar, the No. 88, at Pocono instead of his normal No. 18 to honor his fellow teammate and friend.</p><p>&#8220;That&#8217;s just the thing we have to do, is do the best job we can to honor him and his family and all of his friends,&#8221; Daly said. &#8220;It&#8217;s cool to be carrying that logo, it looks great on the car and cool to be No. 88 as well. Whatever we can do to spread the positive memory of Bryan as well and hopefully have a good weekend.</p><p>&#8220;Two days after, we had talked with David Byrd and we thought it would be a cool way to do things. We came up with this idea and it&#8217;s turned out really well and the response on social media was really cool.&#8221;</p><p>Daly&#8217;s car has a bright white-and-green look with the BC logo on the sides of the No. 88 machine. </p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s the second time we&#8217;ve been on the same team,&#8221; Daly said about Clauson. &#8220;We shared a car in 2011 in Indy Lights, so I knew him for a very long time and just a great dude overall. The guy loves everything about racing, did more racing than everyone else was really impressive. Obviously, he had an incredible win percentage this year that&#8217;s almost unheard of. So talented, such a great guy, great family who all love racing and a great fianc&#233;e in Lauren as well.</p><p>&#8220;Just a sad situation, but I think we can all be proud to have known him.&#8221;</p><p>Clauson also had a short stint in stock cars as a development driver for Chip Ganassi Racing in the NASCAR Busch (now XFINITY) Series and scored an ARCA win at Gateway International Raceway in August 2007.</p><p>He won 27 dirt events in 2016 with most of them coming in the United States Auto Club (USAC) Series.</p><p>Daly still looks to break into Victory Lane after finishing second in race two of the IndyCar Dual in Detroit back in June. The former sports car driver excels in the road-course events, but has struggled some on the ovals.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been hard since we haven&#8217;t tested at any of the ovals except for Iowa,&#8221; Daly said about oval racing. &#8220;It&#8217;s a real challenge. We&#8217;re going really fast around here and it&#8217;s tough when we only have one practice before qualifying. Just trying to get up to speed as quick as possible, we&#8217;re not aiming to qualify up front.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re just wanting to be there for the race and the full 500 miles and get as decent of a finish as possible out of it.&#8221;</p><style>
