RENFREW, Pa. (AP) — The National Weather Service has confirmed a small tornado downed some trees and power lines in western Pennsylvania. A line of strong thunderstorms rolled through Butler County late Thursday and the most severe damage was reported in a line between Evans City and Renfrew, a tiny village about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. Nobody was hurt in the EF0 twister, which packed winds of 65 to 80 mph, but about 1,500 residences and businesses had lost electrical power at one point. By Friday morning, West Penn Power was reporting four small storm-related outages, each affecting no more than 20 customers.
