Jury selection set for deadly building collapse civil trial

HALIFAX, Pa. (AP) — State police have identified a woman killed in a collision between a freight train and a sport utility vehicle at a railroad crossing in central Pennsylvania. Police in Dauphin County say the crash was reported Monday afternoon along state Route 147 in Halifax Township. Police say 29-year-old Trisha Hoffman had been driving her SUV when she pulled out directly into the path of the train for reasons that remain unknown. A police report says Hoffman died immediately. PennLive.com says Hoffman was entering the road from a boat launch access road that crosses tracks that are marked with signs but without crossing arms to block vehicles. A Norfolk Southern representative didn't immediately return a message seeking comment. State police say they are investigating.
