Former Mohegan Sun cocktail waitress pleads guilty in $420K fraud scheme

<p>LUZERNE &#8212; A clean and slightly sporty vibe greets customers at Coal City Tavern. Big screen TVs and pool tables adorn the back of the dining room but the menu showcases anything but typical sports bar fare.</p><p>Saltimbocca-style stuffed pork chops and Parmesan encrusted chicken Alfredo are highlight entrees on a menu that features unique appetizers. A full cocktail and wine bar complements a 19-tap rotation of domestic, imported and micro-brewed beers.</p><p>Amy Giuli oversees front-of-the-house operations at the bar/restaurant at 75 Main St. and said customers love the tavern&#8217;s original take on appetizers.</p><p>&#8220;People love the fried Brussels sprouts,&#8221; Giuli said. &#8220;We also featured Philly steak and cheese egg rolls that everybody loved, and now we&#8217;re putting them on our new menu.&#8221;</p><p>Giuli said customers return to Coal City because they can tell the chef is passionate about his food and the place has <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/features/579616/gobers-deco-lounge-in-exeter-offers-home-style-cooking-live-entertainment" target="_blank">friendly staff</a> who remember returning patrons.</p><p>&#8220;The way I look at it is every day I walk in here, I&#8217;m throwing a party for someone,&#8221; Giuli said.</p><p>Chef Carl Giuli, Amy&#8217;s husband, tries to use the freshest ingredients he can to cook things he thinks customers will enjoy.</p><p>Even the chicken fingers and french fries are made from scratch, but Carl has a few creations he recommends.</p><p>&#8220;I do a grilled salmon with a deconstructed guacamole,&#8221; Carl said. &#8220;It has big chunks of avocado and crab meat. Some of our older customers have said it&#8217;s the best salmon they&#8217;ve had, which is a great compliment because they&#8217;ve experienced a lot.&#8221;</p><p>The chef also recommends the shrimp and scallop puffed pastry.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s something different people don&#8217;t get everywhere,&#8221; Carl Giuli said.</p><p>Tim and Pat Price of Wyoming stopped into Coal City Tavern for the first time on a recent Wednesday evening and agreed that they will return.</p><p>&#8220;We go out two or three nights a week,&#8221; Tim said. &#8220;This food is cooked well, and it is excellent.&#8221;</p><p>Pat added, &#8220;I travel every week, so I eat dinner all over the country, and this place is great.&#8221;</p><p>As football season kicks off, the tavern carries the NFL Sunday Ticket package and plans to extend kitchen hours.</p><p>The chef has recently finished revising the menu, so patrons can expect new options soon.</p><p>For updates on kitchen hours and new menu items, visit <a href="http://www.coalcitytavern.com" target="_blank">coalcitytavern.com</a>.</p><style>
