15 years after 9/11 attacks, community reflects on how the world has changed

SHANKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — The 40 passengers and crew members who died during the crash of Flight 93 during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks will be honored at a ceremony Sunday at the Flight 93 National Memorial in western Pennsylvania. After speeches by Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and others, the names of passengers and crew will be read at 10:03 a.m. — the moment Flight 93 crashed — and bells of remembrance will be rung in their memory. A wreath laying ceremony will follow and family members will then walk out to the crash site. United Airlines Flight 93 was heading from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco when it was hijacked by four terrorists. Thirty-three passengers and seven crew members fought for control of the plane before it crashed, killing all aboard.
