<p>HARRISBURG &#8212; Pennsylvania newspapers remain the most effective way to reach consumers in the Keystone state, according to a recent survey.</p><p>A recent survey by independent research firm American Opinion Research (AOR) indicated 83 percent of adults in the state read a newspaper in print or online every week.</p><p>The AOR study confirmed that newspapers are the primary source of advertising and shopping information in Pennsylvania, as well as the source that best explains important local news and information.</p><p>Other findings from the AOR study and recent data from Nielson Scarborough include:</p><p>&#8226; Newspaper products reach all demographic groups, including adults 18 to 34, 79 percent of whom read a newspaper or access a newspaper website weekly.</p><p>&#8226; Newspapers were mentioned, unprompted, as consumers&#8217; primary source of advertising and shopping information,77 percent higher than the second source.</p><p>&#8226; Six-in-10 consumers make a purchase during an average month after seeing an ad in a printed newspaper or newspaper website.</p><p>The AOR study also measured the reach of other media, finding that only 20% of consumers listen to a radio commercial, 17 percent watch television commercials and 27 percent read direct mail.</p><style>
