EASTON, Pa. (AP) — An eastern Pennsylvania college is standing by its denial of tenure to a professor who went on a hunger strike over the decision. WFMZ-TV (http://bit.ly/2dbaUmT ) reports that Lafayette College trustees held a meeting Sept. 15 to consider reversing the decision in the case of Juan Rojo. But the board sent Rojo a letter Tuesday saying officials stand by the decision, saying the denial was based "on the compelling reason that distinction in teaching ... had not been demonstrated." Rojo announced during an Aug. 30 faculty meeting that he would drink only water and sports drinks until the issue was resolved. He ended the hunger strike Sept. 5.
