<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; It took one quarter for Meyers to get going. Once the Mohawks did, there wasn&#8217;t much Holy Redeemer could do to stop them.</p><p>Meyers rushed for six touchdowns and 456 yards, scoring 35 points in the second quarter en route to a 50-6 victory over the Royals Thursday night at Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium.</p><p>It&#8217;s the third victory for the Mohawks, while Redeemer falls to 1-4.</p><p>&#8220;We have to get a better start. We still haven&#8217;t scored in the first quarter yet,&#8221; Meyers head coach Jeff Labatch said. &#8220;We were moving the ball in the quarter, but we had two holding penalties that put us in the hole. And once that happens, we have to change the play-calling. We just need a better start.&#8221;</p><p>It&#8217;s the ultimate unknown. How would Holy Redeemer respond just one week after forfeiting due to a lack of players?</p><p>One quarter in, it became clearly evident the Royals were ready to play &#8211; noticeable by the 0-0 tie after the first 12 minutes.</p><p>The problem was Meyers just had one too many weapons.</p><p>Five Mohowk offensive series in the second quarter. All five resulting in scores with four different players crossing the goal line.</p><p>A 58-yard drive capped off by a dazzling run by quarterback Janssen Wilborn, who finished with three scores and 145 yards on the ground. He really showed his speed on his second rushing touchdown, busting through the middle of the Royals&#8217; defense and flying down the turf for the 14-yard score and a 28-6 Meyers lead with 2:31 left in the first half.</p><p>Wilborn showed his arm on the team&#8217;s final score of the half, finding Chayne Patterson &#8211; who outran two Redeemer defenders for the 30-yard TD and a 35-6 lead at the break.</p><p>Meyers had 11 first downs alone in the second, running 30 plays in the 12-minute period.</p><p>&#8220;We told our guys that Holy Redeemer was going to come ready to play,&#8221; Labatch said. &#8220;They wanted this game, and they wanted to play. I talked with their coach over the weekend, and he said they would be ready to play. Our guys knew they had to be ready.&#8221;</p><p>Redeemer&#8217;s offense struggled to get into gear.</p><p>The Royals threw four interceptions, and fumbled the ball away two other times. While the team only had one penalty, the offense managed just 100 yards and three first downs.</p><p>Most of that came on one play.</p><p>With Redeemer down 7-0 early in the second quarter and facing a second-and-15, quarterback J.D. Turosky dropped back and found speedy receiver John Winters, who beat the secondary for a 75-yard touchdown. The PAT attempt was blocked, but Redeemer was back in the game, down 7-6 with 10 minutes left in the half.</p><p>That&#8217;s the closest it got as Meyers scored 28 unanswered for the 35-6 lead at halftime.</p><p>Nazir Dunnell pushed the game into the mercy rule with a 29-yard score midway through the third, and added a 20-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.</p><p>&#8220;We still made a lot of mistakes, so we have some work to do,&#8221; said Labatch, whose team was penalized 113 yards. &#8220;There are some areas that we have to clean up.&#8221;</p><p>Meyers&#8217; tailback Reese Patronick also finished with more than 100 yards rushing on 10 carries.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Meyers 50, Holy Redeemer 6</strong></p><p><strong>Redeemer `0`6`0`0 &#8211; 6</strong></p><p><strong>Meyers `0`35`7`8&#8211; 50</strong></p><p><strong>Second Quarter</strong></p><p>M &#8212; Janssen Wilborn 25 run (Ken Macko kick), 11:12</p><p>HR &#8212; John Winter 75 pass from J.D.
