Local authors, local books: NEPA writers share natural healing tips, a rock ‘n’ roll memoir, a man running from his fears and one big mistake

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; St. Andrew Parish will present a guitar concert at the St. Patrick Church worship site, 318 Parrish St., at 3 p.m. Sept. 25, to benefit the St. Vincent De Paul Kitchen.</p><p>Guest artist John De Chiaro made his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1976 and has performed around the world at the White House, for John Paul II and for the king of Spain. His recordings include his arrangements of Christmas carols, Broadway classics, Romantic piano pieces and the complete works of Scott Joplin. In 1989, De Chiaro received a commission from NASA to compose an original guitar composition for the Space Shuttle program.</p><p>He is on the music faculty at Louisiana State University in Alexandra, La., and teaches at several public schools. During a concert tour of Italy in 2008, the Carlow Choir, which De Chiaro established, performed for Pope Benedict XVI.</p><p>Cash donations for St. Vincent De Paul Kitchen will be accepted at the concert. De Chiaro is donating his services and all money collected will directly benefit the hundreds of people fed daily at the kitchen.</p><style>
