WVC Girls Tennis: Coughlin wins thriller over Berwick

Nick Bazadona scored a pair of goals to lead the Wyoming Valley West boys soccer team to a 2-0 win at Coughlin Friday.Coughlin goalkeeper David Koosik made a game-high 10 saves as Wyoming Valley West outshot the Crusaders 15-9. Spartans goalie Davis Weaver made eight saves in the shutout.Tunkhannock 4, Dallas 0It took Tunkhannock just over 40 minutes to get going, but once the Tigers came out of halftime, they played like a brand new team.Drew Tinna led the second-half charge, scoring a pair of goals, en route to a shutout over Dallas.Even though Dallas outshot Tunkhannock 14-13, the play of goalkeeper Matt Goodwin kept the Tigers afloat. Goodwin made a game-high eight saves.Hazleton Area 6, Pittston Area 2Thanks to a hat trick from Jonathan Pozniak, Hazleton Area was able to overcome an early deficit against Pittston Area.Josh Capriotti added a goal and an assist in the winning effort. Justin Talipan and Brandon Overman scored the goals for Pittston Area.GIRLS SOCCERDallas 4, Tunkhannock 0Emma Sweitzer and Alison Francis each scored two goals in the Mountaineers&#8217; win.Samantha Mazula chipped in with two saves, while Rachel Nelligan made two saves for Dallas.Tunkhannock&#8217;s Abby Ritz had seven saves.Hazleton Area 1, Pittston Area 1Pittston Area put the pressure on Hazleton Area early in the second half when Luchia Carabetta converted a Mia Barbieri pass to start the game&#8217;s scoring.
