Letter to the Editor: Rally to revive Camp Louise for sake of future Girl Scouts

Dallas H.S. principal credits faculty, students for high scores

<p>As a point of disclosure, I am a lifelong 74-year-old Democratic Socialist (check out that description in Wikipedia) with funky white hair, and obviously a supporter of Bernie Sanders.</p><p>I am constantly confronted by Republican friends who tell me that &#8220;Yes, Donald Trump has his faults, but he associates himself with the most capable, competent people, and they all respect him and feel he is the answer to all our country&#8217;s problems.&#8221; I would agree, except for the point that he is the answer to all of our problems.</p><p>Consider the following: In the 1930s Adolf Hitler also associated himself with the most capable, competent people (Albert Speer, Joseph Goebbles, Hermann Goering, Martin Bormann and Heinrich Himmler). They were totally swayed by Hitler&#8217;s rantings and felt that he was the answer to all of Germany&#8217;s problems. We all know where that led.</p><p>Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, also has associated himself with capable, competent people (Roger Ailes, Kellyanne Conway, Stephen Bannon and Rudy Giuliani) who, as did their German predecessors, profess extreme nationalism, religious and racial intolerance, and fearmongering that could lead to very unfavorable results.</p><p>I will show up at the polls on Nov. 8. with a heavy heart and a clothespin on my nose. But I will not waste my vote for a third-party candidate regardless of how satisfying that would be, because I feel that a Trump victory would lead to a disastrous outcome for the country I love.</p><p><strong>Neil E.
