TOP STORIES: PENNSYLVANIA-STATE UNIVERSITIES CONTRACT More than 100,000 state university students in Pennsylvania were told Thursday to stay at school, as striking professors returned to picket lines on 14 campuses for a second day and their union pleaded for a resumption of contract talks. The state university system had informed students they should show up for class unless their individual schools indicated otherwise. NORTH STAR SOLAR MINNEAPOLIS — Construction has wrapped up on a $180 million solar farm in Minnesota that's billed as the largest single solar facility in the Midwest and one of the largest in the country. The North Star Solar project in Chisago County just north of the Twin Cities comprises more than 440,000 solar panels on 1 ½ square miles of land. It's expected to produce enough energy to power more than 20,000 homes, starting in December. FESTIVAL BOOTHS-COUNTERFEITING MANSFIELD, Ind. — Authorities have seized tens of thousands of suspected counterfeit items from several booths at the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana and arrested 24 people. Indiana State Excise Police Officers say they executed search warrants Wednesday at the event in Mansfield. Charges include forgery and counterfeiting. Those arrested are from states including Illinois, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. A federal judge last month rejected a Delaware River Port Authority decision that awarded a contract to paint the Commodore Barry Bridge to an Ohio firm despite a Baltimore company submitting a bid that was about $10,000 lower. The team announced on Thursday that Murray has agreed to a three-year extension that will run through the 2019-2020 season and carries an average annual value of $3.75 million. 76ERS BRAND RETIRES PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand has announced his retirement. Brand was the first overall pick out of Duke in the 1999 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls and was named rookie of the year. Brand played 17 seasons in the NBA and was in his second stint with the Sixers. SHARKS-PENGUINS PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks meet in Thursday night just four months removed from Pittsburgh's victory over the Sharks in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final.
