Letter to the Editor: Join the push to finally eliminate Pennsylvania’s property tax

<p>This election year, the candidates were chosen in two vastly different ways. On the Republican side, Donald Trump has built a movement, speaking to the people and being in touch with what they are feeling on a day-to-day basis.</p><p>Trump has made the people the focus of his campaign, contrary to the campaign message of Hillary Clinton, which is about putting the focus of the people onto her.</p><p>Over the last few weeks, more and more leaks have shown that the Clinton campaign colluded with the Democratic National Committee to ensure she would be handed the nomination. The latest leaks have shown that the Clinton campaign strategized with the DNC about how to keep the nomination away from Bernie Sanders.</p><p>How can someone who wants to be president honestly believe it is OK to work behind closed doors to win her party&#8217;s nomination?</p><p>Clinton has talked often about how she relates to &#8220;everyday Americans,&#8221; but everyday Americans learned in her emails that she has, according to campaign chairman John Podesta, begun to &#8220;hate everyday Americans.&#8221;</p><p>This sort of language is not new to the Clinton campaign, either. Clinton also referred to half of Trump&#8217;s supporters as &#8220;a basket of deplorables.&#8221; How can we trust someone who believes a significant portion of our country is &#8220;deplorable?&#8221;</p><p>The emails also revealed that Clinton was given advantages by the DNC that were not offered to her opponent in the primary.</p><p>It was revealed that the DNC&#8217;s Donna Brazile used her connections with CNN to get the questions that would be asked of Clinton at the CNN town hall during the primary. Brazile then passed along these questions to the Clinton campaign to allow them to prepare.</p><p>In addition, Brazile helped the Clinton campaign by sending them emails from the Sanders campaign about its plans to reach African-American voters. This sort of collusion was used to ensure that Clinton would look better than she would have actually done.</p><p>Hillary Clinton&#8217;s campaign has been motivated by a desire to have more power, and more control, while Donald Trump&#8217;s campaign has been about restoring America&#8217;s manufacturing jobs and the middle class.</p><p>In the discovered speeches, it has become even more evident that the American people cannot trust Hillary Clinton.</p><p>In one of her uncovered speeches, Clinton discusses how important it is to have a separate public and private position on issues. This makes it harder for the everyday Americans that she hates to be sure what she will do in office, besides what will benefit the special interests and political insiders who have funded her campaign.</p><p>In contrast, Trump&#8217;s campaign message is very clear: He wants to make America great again by creating jobs, improving our health-care system, and letting families keep more of their hard-earned money by lowering taxes.</p><p>Trump is ready to make America great again for everyone. He did not use backroom deals and secret emails to get to where he is, and he is not acting like he is &#8220;owed&#8221; the presidency.</p><p>Trump has relied on his own money and small-dollar donations from regular Americans, continuing to ensure that the American people know that he is not bought and paid for by Wall Street, unions, or any other liberal special-interest groups.</p><p>America cannot afford to have a president who got to the White House by deceiving the American people. We need a president who wants to make America great again, and Trump is the only candidate who&#8217;s qualified to get the job done.</p><p>On Nov. 8, there is only one candidate who will put the interests of Luzerne County, the commonwealth and our great nation ahead of their own. That candidate is Donald J. Trump.</p><style>
