An emotional night for Penn State’s Garrett Sickels ends with a monumental win

WILKES-BARRE - In recognition of 40 years of service to victims of domestic violence and to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Lynn Shiner, Harrisburg, a domestic violence survivor, will be guest speaker at noon, Tuesday, in the Rotunda of the Luzerne County Courthouse, to present Domestic Violence Service Center&#8217;s (DVSC) &#8220;Empty Place at the Table.&#8221;Shiner has 37 years experience in the state government. She came to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency with a passion to ease crime victims&#8217; pain after she experienced a tragedy of her own. Her young children, Jen and Dave, were murdered on Christmas Day 1994. She is committed to making changes to improve the lives of other victims and advocates for protection of children through the Jen and Dave Law.This annual event is a memorial to victims who have lost their lives to domestic violence in Luzerne County and is open to the public.
