Letter to the Editor: Kingston Health Care Center’s staffers provide patient with ‘spiritual uplift’

<p>If I remember my American history, I believe we had a revolution once a few hundred years ago.</p><p>Now that I think about it, we had a bunch of not-too-friendly folks running things, and we did not like what they were doing. So we fought for our freedom and a better way of life. The operative word here is fought.</p><p>Right now, throughout the world, we have millions of good people fleeing bad people, and the good people are called refugees. We have a crisis. Millions of refugees are leaving their countries in search of a better life in good countries. These good countries are ones that came about because good people fought the bad people and won.</p><p>Great countries to live in did not appear by accident; good people have to fight, and some of them have to die in the process, but the end result is very much worth the effort and sacrifice.</p><p>I am not against helping refugees, some of them. However, there comes a point when good people have to take a stand in their own country and make it a fit place to live. If everybody walks away from the bad people, there will be more bad countries run by bad people, and all of us good folks will be overcrowded in our good countries. The bad people will have won.</p><p>If so many good, educated people in this world are envious of our free, democratic societies, then why are they not trying to make their own countries free and democratic too, instead of leaving the problem to somebody else?</p><p><strong>George Trovato</strong></p><p>Dallas</p><style>
