<p>KINGSTON &#8212; The Wyoming Seminary boys soccer team wasted little time setting the tone Friday afternoon in its District 2 2A quarterfinal against Lakeland.</p><p>Seminary controlled the ball early, rattling off a trio of good chances in front of the net within the first five minutes of the contest.</p><p>A pair of goals midway through the first half &#8212; one from Michael Deslauriers and another from Julien Simons &#8212; gave the Blue Knights a two-goal lead at the break en route to a 4-0 victory over the Chiefs.</p><p>Seminary will face the winner of Nanticoke and Blue Ridge in a semifinals matchup on Monday. The Trojans travel to Blue Ridge Saturday at noon.</p><p>&#8220;We wanted to come out strong,&#8221; Wyoming Seminary head coach Rev. Charles Carrick said. &#8220;You always want to try to come out strong and take control of the game and put them under pressure. I thought we did a great job of holding our shape and when they tried to clear we were able to absorb the clear and, with control, put it back on the attack.&#8221;</p><p>The Blue Knights&#8217; first punch came when Michael Kim found an open Deslauriers, who put Sem up 1-0 with 17:52 remaining in the first half.</p><p>Then, less than five minutes later Deslauriers had the magic touch again. The junior passed the ball to a wide open Simons off of a corner kick. When Simons got the ball he had a clear shot on goal and took it. The senior&#8217;s shot took Lakeland goalkeeper Gavin Kopa by surprise and squirted under the diving sophomore, who was caught out of position.</p><p>&#8220;It was a good pass from (Deslauriers) and I just had to put it in the net. All the credit to him,&#8221; Deslauriers said of his first goal. &#8220;(Julien) was open and nobody was looking so I passed it quickly there (for the second goal).&#8221;</p><p>However, even with a 2-0 lead, Seminary kept the pressure on in the second half.</p><p>The Blue Knights scored an early second-half goal thanks to a perfectly executed give-and-go between Connor Evans and Jack Davis.</p><p>Evans got the ball from Michael Kim and passed it to Davis and made his way down the right sideline. Evans got the ball back standing in the right corner of the field and sent a crosser Deslauriers&#8217; way, who sent the ball in the back of the net to give the Knights a 3-0 lead with 26:23 remaining in the second half.</p><p>&#8220;We usually start showing out in the postseason because that&#8217;s when we get this chemistry going and I think that really showed,&#8221; Evans said of the goal. &#8220;I was able to click with (Davis) there and Michael Anthony was able to put it in. Just great passing by the whole team.&#8221;</p><p>Seminary put the game away for good, when Reginald Grayek made good on a pass from Andrew Kim with 5:24 remaining in regulation.</p><p>After winning just two of their final five games before districts, the Blue Knights have outscored their opponents 12-0 in their two Class 2A games.</p><p>&#8220;I think these last two games we kind of played with more heart than ever,&#8221; Evans said. &#8220;We all just don&#8217;t want the season to come to an end and I think that we really just want to go as far as we can, and we&#8217;re trying that in every game.&#8221;</p><p><strong>DISTRICT 2 CLASS 2A QUARTERFINAL</strong></p><p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Wyoming Seminary 4, Lakeland 0</strong></p><p><strong>Lakeland`0`0`&#8212;`0</strong></p><p><strong>Wyoming Seminary`2`2`&#8212;`4</strong></p><p><strong>First half &#8212;</strong> 1.
