UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania judge has rejected a bid to dismiss charges against a man and woman accused of having underfed their adopted daughter, who authorities said almost starved last year. The (Uniontown) Herald-Standard (http://bit.ly/2eGIYWG ) reports that the Fayette County judge ruled that that evidence presented at a December preliminary hearing was "more than sufficient" to establish an assault and endangerment case against 40-year-old Edwin Havrilesko and 40-year-old Jennifer Havrilesko. A child advocate at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh testified that the 13-year-old girl weighing only 48 pounds — less than she did when she was 7. Authorities said she reported being underfed and even eating candy canes from the Christmas tree.
