Republicans poised to maintain their control of Legislature

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania Republicans are well-positioned to maintain their comfortable margins in the state Legislature on Nov. 8. That means Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf is likely facing another two years of working with a General Assembly that has its own political and fiscal agenda. As is usually the case, nearly half of Pennsylvania's incumbent lawmakers have no opponents and are sure to return when the two-year session starts back up in January. The General Assembly session that began nearly two years ago was dominated by a budget stalemate between Wolf and the Republican majorities. It dragged on for well over a year, although the process this summer was far more orderly, and almost met the July 1 fiscal year deadline.
