<p><em>It takes a lot of fuel to power through a 60-minute hockey game. Constant skating alone burns countless calories, and players have become increasingly attuned to what they eat as a major part of their daily training regiment. Hockey players are as particular about their meals as they are their sticks.</em></p><p><em>Ever wonder about what keeps a hockey player going during a long, grueling season? Each week we&#8217;ll take a look at what&#8217;s on a player&#8217;s plate after practice and before a game.</em></p><p><strong>JAKE GUENTZEL</strong></p><p><strong>Forward</strong></p><p><strong>Woodbury, MN</strong></p><p><strong>Pregame meal:</strong> &#8220;Chicken and pasta, maybe a salad too. It&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve always done so I stuck with it. It seems like it&#8217;s working.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Preferred meal on non-game days:</strong> &#8220;Not really anything in particular. After morning skate we get a variety of meals which changes it up every day.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Foods to avoid:</strong> &#8220;Fast food. That&#8217;s in general. I avoid burgers before a game.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Cheat meal:</strong> &#8220;If we have a couple days off I&#8217;ll get a burger or something. Other than that, you&#8217;re sticking to the diet of what you have to do to be ready every day.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Favorite meal from back home:</strong> &#8220;Not really one thing. I have a few places I like to go back to to eat, so there&#8217;s not really one thing I prefer.&#8221;</p><style>
