Decision day: Turnout strong in NEPA; voters largely split on choices

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Jonathan Fox, who is already facing charges in county court stemming from an alleged robbery of a credit union, waived more charges to higher court.</p><p>Fox, 25, appeared before Magisterial District Judge Richard Cronauer for a preliminary hearing Tuesday. He faces two robbery charges from <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/600861/man-charged-with-credit-union-robbery-now-charged-with-dollar-general-robbery" target="_blank">an alleged robbery at Dollar General on South Main Street</a> in September.</p><p>Fox waived the two charges to county court.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to the store on South Main Street at 8:13 p.m. Sept. 28 for a reported robbery.</p><p>An employee reported to police she opened the cash drawer as Fox tried to purchase candy. When the drawer opened, Fox allegedly displayed a black handgun, pointed it at the cashier and grabbed an unknown amount of money from the register.</p><p>Fox then allegedly fled the store on foot. Police said the surveillance system captured images of Fox during the alleged robbery.</p><p>Fox allegedly <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/591752/police-searching-for-suspect-that-allegedly-robbed-credit-union-in-kingston" target="_blank">robbed the UFCW Federal Credit Union in Kingston</a> the next day.</p><p>Fox previously waived his charges stemming from the alleged credit union robbery to higher court in October. He <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/596330/remorseful-suspect-in-credit-union-robbery-headed-to-higher-court-on-charges" target="_blank">appeared remorseful for his actions</a> when he spoke to a reporter after that hearing.</p><p>Fox is scheduled for a formal arraignment at 9 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Luzerne County Courthouse. Fox&#8217;s attorney Melissa Sulima, argued for lower bail, but Cronauer declined to make an adjustment.</p><p>Fox remains jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail in regards to his charges in Kingston, and $75,000 from his charges in Wilkes-Barre.</p><style>
