<p>Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis has been named to fill a vacancy to the state district attorney&#8217;s institute&#8217;s board of directors, the institute announced Thursday.</p><p>The Pennsylvania District Attorney&#8217;s Institute, the educational and training arm of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association, provides &#8220;professional development and training for prosecutors, law enforcement and victim advocates,&#8221; according to a news release.</p><p>Salavantis, whose appointment to the board was unanimously approved during the PDAI&#8217;s fall meeting, said she was humbled by the selection.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great honor,&#8221; Salavantis said.</p><p>The institute&#8217;s executive director reached out to Salavantis and asked if she would be interested, she said.</p><p>&#8220;He said my name had come up multiple times,&#8221; said the Republican, now in her second term.</p><p>The PDAI, the news release said, manages a statewide program to provide naloxone to local police departments, place PA MedReturn prescription drug drop-off boxes in communities and works with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to provide PA SAVIN, a statewide automated victim notification service.</p><style>
