WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware officials are asking the federal government to force an out-of-state power plant to cut pollution. The Wilmington News Journal reports (http://delonline.us/2es3A5Z ) that state environmental officials have petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency seeking pollution relief from the Homer City Generation, a power plant near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Delaware has made similar requests concerning a different power plant in Pennsylvania and one in West Virginia. The EPA has 60 days to respond but asked for more time to review the previous petitions. Delaware officials say that more than 94 percent of the ozone levels in the state are the product of air pollutants from upwind states. The Homer City Power Generating Station is owned by General Electric.
