Trump considering woman, openly gay man for leadership posts

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; A man is in custody after alleged sexual assault and rape of a woman at a city residence early Saturday.</p><p>Christopher Bates, 43, is charged with rape, terroristic threats, false imprisonment, harassment and simple assault, following an incident where a woman reported being ordered around at knifepoint and forced into sexual acts.</p><p>According to police documents, the woman was awakened by a punch to the side of her face before having her mouth bound with duct tape, her breathing restricted and a knife pulled on her after she began to struggle.</p><p>Bates allegedly forced the woman to remove her clothes and engage in multiple sexual acts with him, threatening bodily harm if she refused.</p><p>Arrest papers say Bates threatened the life of the alleged victim and threatened to kill himself between waves of assault. After allowing the woman to get dressed, Bates refused to allow her or her son, who was also at the residence at the time of the alleged incidents, to leave the residence.</p><p>The woman was eventually allowed to leave the residence with her son, reports say, after which, Bates got in his vehicle and left.</p><p>Bates was arraigned in front of District Judge Donald L. Whitaker Sunday and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Nov. 30 according to court documents.</p><p>In lieu of $100,000 bail, Bates is currently detained in Luzerne County Correctional Facility.</p><style>
