Police: Mom abused 5-year-old son, forced him to smoke crack

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to serve life in prison for the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend's father during a home invasion in Lower Moreland Township last year. Montgomery County Judge Thomas Rogers called 21-year-old Naadir Abdul-Ali "evil" and "depraved" before sentencing him on Tuesday. Abdul-Ali was convicted in July following an 11-day trial in which prosecutors painted him as an abusive and manipulative boyfriend who sought out three friends to help him break into the family home of his estranged former girlfriend and kill her father after she left him. Prosecutors couldn't convince the jury which of the four defendants fired the shot that killed 53-year-old Kevin Brown in September 2015. Deputy District Attorney Thomas McGoldrick called the crime "a brutal and senseless murder of an innocent man."
