From flats to stilettos: Exhibit explores what shoes reveal

SALEM, Mass. (AP) — From flats to stilettos, what we put on our feet says something about who we are. That's the premise of new exhibition in Massachusetts. "Shoes: Pleasure and Pain" opens Saturday at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. The exhibit explores the history and culture of footwear ranging from slippers and flip-flops to thigh-high boots with platform heels. It showcases boots, slippers, pumps, loafers and sandals from around the world dating to the 17th century. The exhibit, organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, runs through mid-March.
