<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Leo A. Glodzik III reported Monday to a federal prison in New Jersey to begin serving a 30-month sentence, a source confirmed to the Times Leader.</p><p>Glodzik, 45, of Wilkes-Barre, <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/588786/leo-a-glodzik-iii-gets-30-months-in-federal-prison" target="_blank">received the punishment</a> on charges of mail fraud, filing a false tax return, and being a felon in possession of a firearm on Sept. 20. His proposed reporting date was pushed back to Monday after <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/599736/2-masses-found-on-leo-a-glodzik-iii-prompt-postponed-surrender-date" target="_blank">a health screening turned up a pair of masses</a> on Glodzik&#8217;s body. Test results <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/609131/leo-a-glodzik-iii-healthy-and-on-track-to-report-to-federal-prison-attorney-says" target="_blank">came back negative</a>, his attorney had said.</p><p>Glodzik on Sunday, in a Facebook post he said would be his last for some time, vowed to &#8220;be back soon&#8221; before encouraging supporters to send money and visit him for sex.</p><p>&#8220;Everyone stay safe,&#8221; Glodzik said in the post. &#8220;If anyone wants to write me, put money on my books or come for a conjugal visit, I will be in Fort Dix federal prison in New Jersey.&#8221;</p><p>The all-male, low-security prison in Burlington County houses 4,438 inmates, the most among facilities operated by the federal Bureau of Prisons, according to the bureau&#8217;s website. The prison&#8217;s main wing houses 4,060 inmates while an adjacent, minimum-security satellite camp holds another 378.</p><p>Voluntary surrenders like Glodzik are only permitted to arrive at the prison with their clothes, prescription glasses and a wedding band, as well as money and medication, according to the prison&#8217;s website. The former is deposited into the inmate&#8217;s trust fund account while the latter is reviewed by prison staff.</p><p>Bureau of Prisons officials Monday referred a reporter seeking Glodzik&#8217;s custody status to the bureau&#8217;s website, which did not reflect Glodzik&#8217;s incarceration as of Monday evening. Officials noted there is often a 24-hour delay in updating an inmate&#8217;s status.</p><p>Glodzik&#8217;s attorney, Joseph F. Sklarosky Sr., did not return a message seeking comment.</p><p>A source with knowledge of Glodzik&#8217;s status, however, confirmed he surrendered Monday as scheduled.</p><p>Glodzik&#8217;s incarceration puts to bed a two-year federal court saga that first saw the beleaguered former city tower indicted in 2014 as a player in the Wilkes-Barre City Employees Federal Credit Union corruption case, a scandal that also ensnared two city cops, a credit union member and an employee.</p><p>The following year, Glodzik was indicted on the firearms charge after federal agents and undercover state police officers found a 12-gauge shotgun and two rifles when arriving at Glodzik&#8217;s home to arrest him. A 2014 theft conviction in county court, which cost Glodzik his exclusive towing contract with the city, prohibited him from owning firearms.</p><p>A <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/527098/leo-glodzik-charged-with-mail-fraud-filing-false-income-tax-form" target="_blank">criminal information filed in March</a> added mail fraud and filing a false tax return to the mix, but allowed Glodzik to avoid prosecution in the credit union case by pleading guilty. <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/535907/leo-a-glodzik-iii-pleads-guilty-to-charges-of-mail-fraud-filing-false-income-tax-return" target="_blank">He entered the plea in April</a>.</p><p>Glodzik, prosecutors alleged, ripped off vehicle owners by overcharging or hindering their access to vehicles he put in storage, lied on official forms about the cost of vehicles whose ownership he transferred to himself, and falsified his 2008 tax return by reporting zero taxable income when the amount was actually more than $400,000.</p><p>At his sentencing, Glodzik acknowledged it would take &#8220;a lifetime&#8221; to make up for his mistakes.</p><p>&#8220;I made poor and bad decisions both in my business and personal life,&#8221; Glodzik had said. &#8220;I&#8217;m embarrassed for what I&#8217;ve done to my family, to my children and my mother.&#8221;</p><style>
