Family-friendly ‘Beauty and the Beast’ comes to Nuangola

A heartfeltthank youThis past July, our family tragically lost our son, Kris Moules. For any family to lose such a young life, no words begin to explain the grief, but the details of our son&#8217;s death became a local and national media story. Yet, from the first report of his death through today, the outpouring of support from friends, family, law enforcement, emergency services personnel and even strangers have been awe-inspiring and a small comfort in our time of loss.First, to the first responders who reported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, we thank you. It has been brought to our attention that the correction officers on duty, the responding paramedics and the emergency room staff did everything medically possible to save Kris. Also, from the hospital emergency room through his burial, Kris was under the careful watch of Honor Guards from both the Luzerne County Correctional Facility and the State Correctional Institution-Dallas. He was not alone, but always protected by his brothers.Next, to Ray Stender and the Corrections Officers Peace Foundation, the Wyoming Valley West School District and Drew Mamary, we thank you for planning and executing the viewing and funeral proceedings. This was a monumental task, and your coordinated efforts were unbelievable. We would especially like to thank the support staff at Wyoming Valley West for preparing the facilities and grounds. Kris was proud to be a Spartan, and the use of his high school was a beautiful tribute.Additionally, to the Department of Corrections of Luzerne County, Director Mark Rokovich, the corrections officers and the prison support staff, we thank you for your unwavering support. You have stood with us from day one and continue to offer your comfort and support even today. We cannot possibly list the countless law enforcement agencies, emergency service providers and American Red Cross volunteers who offered their time and services throughout the proceedings. It was incredible to meet the men and women from various branches of law enforcement and first response units who traveled from all over the nation and Canada to pay their respects to our son; it truly is a brotherhood.Over the past few months, we have had the pleasure to speak with friends and family of the impact Kris had during his short life. We have also been gifted to meet new faces, whom Kris called friends, who had relationships and friendships about which we were unaware; this tragic experience has allowed us to learn things that most parents never get the chance to know about their child. Additionally, we have received countless letters, cards and mementos from strangers across the country, some who lost a family member in law enforcement similarly to Kris, and some who just felt the need to offer a kind word of sympathy. The unbelievable support offered to our family is beyond words, and to everyone who took time to send a card, food, donation, memento or provide a service or even a kind work, we cannot thank you enough.Kris truly enjoyed everything life had to offer and lived fully during his short time here with us. He left a lasting impression on his family and friends and brought joy to those who knew him. Though his life ended too soon, he will be remembered by so many. We know if Kris had one wish, it would be for his fellow COs and prison support staff to be safe.Nothing will ever take away the grief from the loss of our son and brother, but your kindness has made the process so much more bearable.Thank you,Ken, Kitty and Kenny MoulesLarksville
