(AP) — The Latest on the trial of a fired South Carolina police officer charged with murder in the shooting of an unarmed black motorist (all times local): 12:45 p.m. The jury in the trial of a South Carolina police officer's murder trial is getting additional instructions on the law in order to try to reach a verdict. Slager was fired from the North Charleston police department after being charged with murder in the April 2015 shooting death of Walter Scott, a black motorist. The shooting was captured on cellphone video and seen widely on the internet and in the media. By noon on Monday, the jury had been in deliberations for 19 hours. When jurors returned Monday morning they had a number of questions, including why voluntary manslaughter was added as a possible verdict and whether the definition of self-defense for a police officer is different than for the average person. Additional instructions were being read by Circuit Judge Clifton Newman to the panel of one black and 11 white jurors. ___ 10:45 a.m. A majority of the jurors in the Michael Slager murder trial in South Carolina are undecided about a verdict in the case. The jury has now deliberated more than 17 hours over four days in the trial on whether to acquit Slager or find him guilty of murder or voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 50-year-old Walter Scott. Slager is a former North Charleston police officer. On Friday, it appeared that the stalemate involved only one juror.
