<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; More that $2.5 million in Community Conservation Partnership Program grants will be coming to recreation areas in Luzerne and Carbon counties, according to a news release from State Sen. John Yudichak&#8217;s office.</p><p>The grants, awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in the 14th Senatorial district, will benefit seven park areas in Luzerne County.</p><p>&#8220;Investing in the conservation and recreational assets of the communities of Luzerne and Carbon counties is a sound investment that improves the quality of life throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania,&#8221; said Yudichak, D-Plymouth Township.</p><p>The following grants were awarded in Luzerne County:</p><p>&#183; Hazleton City: $115,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Altmiller Park.</p><p>&#183; Jenkins Township: $100,000 for the development of Riverfront Park.</p><p>&#183; Larksville Borough: $40,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Washington Street Park.</p><p>&#183; Nanticoke City: $250,000 for the further development of Lower Broadway Recreation Complex.</p><p>&#183; North Branch Land Trust: $498,000 for the development of the D&amp;L Trail in Plains and Wilkes-Barre Townships and Laurel Run Borough.</p><p>&#183; North Branch Land Trust: $1,000,000 toward the acquisition of approximately 822 acres on Penobscot Mountain in Slocum and Newport Townships.</p><p>&#183; Pittston City: $260,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Sullivan Park.</p><style>
