NANTICOKE - Luzerne County Community College will host the 2016 SkillsUSA District 1 competition 9 a.m. to noon Friday on the college campus. An awards ceremony will be held 1 p.m. at the college&#8217;s Educational Conference Center.More than 100 high school students from nine northeastern PA Career Technology Centers will compete in a variety of categories including advertising design, automotive service technology, basic health care, commercial baking, criminal justice, crime scene investigation, culinary arts, electrical construction wiring, first aid/cpr, industrial motor control, nurse assisting, power equipment technology, prepared speech, and restaurant service.LCCC faculty members will judge the competition as well as serve as proctors for various exams.SkillsUSA&#8217;s mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.
