<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Dupont man Friday was ordered to jail for up to a year for causing a multi-vehicle wreck while drunk last December.</p><p>Thomas V. Hawksley Sr., 45, of Lackawanna Street, was sentenced to six to 12 months and remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on charges of aggravated assault by vehicle and driving under the influence related to the Dec. 6 crash on Wyoming Avenue in Exeter. He pleaded guilty to the charges in October.</p><p>Hawksley, whose blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, must serve an additional two years in the county&#8217;s Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP), with the first six months under house arrest with electronic monitoring, Judge David W. Lupas ordered.</p><p>Hawksley, police said, admitted he had &#8220;a few drinks&#8221; when Exeter Borough Police officers discovered him lying on the ground next to his Dodge Ram with an apparent facial injury. Three vehicles were involved in the crash and each were heavily damaged, police said.</p><p>Officers determined Hawksley was driving northbound on Wyoming Avenue through a thick fog when he collided with another vehicle driving from the opposite direction. Police said the driver, Brenda Mangione, suffered a fractured sternum and a broken left hand in the wreck. Her passenger, Carol Ondusko, had her foot operated on and suffered broken ribs.</p><p>Lupas ordered Hawksley to pay Ondusko $5,506 in restitution.</p><p>Hawksley&#8217;s truck veered to the left where it struck a second vehicle driven by John Gilligan, who was stopped on Tunkhannock Avenue at the time, according to police. It was unclear whether Gilligan was injured.</p><p>Toxicology results showed Hawksley had a blood-alcohol level of 0.198.</p><p>Hawksley&#8217;s driver&#8217;s license will be suspended for one year and he must complete the state&#8217;s Alcohol Highway Safety School, a mandatory online class for first-time DUI offenders.</p><style>

Drunk driver who caused three-car wreck in Exeter sentenced
