Wilkes-Barre woman’s candle making goes from calming hobby to business venture

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Attorney Art Piccone, decked in a red sweater and a big smile, welcomed children and their parents to a free screening of &#8220;Finding Dory&#8221; on Saturday at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts.</p><p>To Piccone, a senior partner at the law firm of Hourigan, Kluger &amp; Quinn with more than 50 years of legal experience behind him, the event, now in its eighth year, has become a tradition.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s wonderful to see the children come in the front doors, grab a box of popcorn and a drink,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The attorneys of Hourigan, Kluger &amp; Quinn have been really blessed. They are all very generous. They all want to give back.&#8221;</p><p>Piccone pointed to a gift that every child attending would receive: an elaborate art set.</p><p>The annual event, much more than simply a free movie, he said, provides an opportunity for the law firm to brighten the holiday experience of area families with children.</p><p>To Sharifah Jones and her two children, attending for the first time, the event was just that &#8211; a free afternoon of entertainment featuring the colors, sights and sounds of the season.</p><p>Jones, who attended with several other families, said she was very impressed with everything from the Disney-themed characters that made their way through the theater, providing opportunities for photos and eliciting smiles from youngsters as they walked past, to the band playing holiday music, to the movie itself.</p><p>Jones also was impressed with Tux, mascot for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who donned a Santa hat and performed for attendees as they made their way into the theater.</p><p>To Summer Casey, 10, of Freeland, who attended the event several times before, the day was an opportunity to spend time with family and to watch a favorite movie. Her parents, Bryan and Darlene Casey, made the trip in spite of the falling temperatures and fallen snow.</p><p>About 600 people were expected to attend the event, down from about 1,800 last year because of the weather, said Sue Greenfield, business manager for Hourigan, Kluger &amp; Quinn.</p><p>Thirty-five volunteers from the firm welcomed attendees, providing them with boxes of popcorn and a holiday greeting.</p><p>Jeny Roginski, a secretary at the firm, said, &#8220;It&#8217;s just fun to see the kids come out every year and be really excited.&#8221;</p><style>
