Crestwood’s Kyle Gegaris named Times Leader Boys Soccer Player of the Year

<p><strong>David Cortez</strong></p><p><strong>Jr., M, Coughlin</strong></p><p>Cortez was one of the WVC&#8217;s top scorers this year, and was Coughlin&#8217;s leading scorer. The junior was named to the Division 1 first team, leading Coughlin to a District 2 3A quarterfinals appearance.</p><p><strong>Drew Tinna</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., F, Tunkhannock</strong></p><p>A Division 1 first-team all star, Tinna played a big role in the Tigers&#8217; first-place finish in Division 1. He scored 23 goals and added a trio of assists, good for third in the league in points.</p><p><strong>Eric Llyewellyn</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., D, Dallas</strong></p><p>Named a Division 1 first-team all-star, Llyewellyn registered a goal and four assists this season. His goal was a memorable one, coming in a 1-1 tie against Crestwood on Oct. 11. Standing on the 40-yard line to attempt a crosser by the goal, the senior miskicked and the ball found the back of the net.</p><p><strong>Eric Schramm</strong></p><p><strong>Jr., M, Holy Redeemer</strong></p><p>Schramm finished his junior campaign with 12 goals and six assists, which helped him earn a Division 2 first-team nod. The junior contributed on all three of the Royals&#8217; goals in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 Championship, to help Holy Redeemer secure the No. 3 seed in the District 2 2A tournament.</p><p><strong>Jake Gurtis</strong></p><p><strong>Jr., D, Wyoming Valley West</strong></p><p>Gurtis was key to the Spartans defensive dominance this year. The junior was a key cog in a Valley West defense that gave up just 10 goals this year. Gurtis was a Division 1 first-team all-star this fall.</p><p><strong>Kevin Grodzki</strong></p><p><strong>So., D, Wyoming Valley West</strong></p><p>Grodzki played a large role in a Spartans defense that gave up just 10 goals this season. The sophomore was also named a Division 1 first-team all-star.</p><p><strong>Michael Kim</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., M, Wyoming Seminary</strong></p><p>Kim, a Division 2 first-team all-star, finished his campaign with 19 points (10 goals and nine points). Kim scored his last high school goal in the second half of the WVC Coaches Boys Soccer Senior Classic on Nov. 14.</p><p><strong>Andrew Kim</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., M, Wyoming Seminary</strong></p><p>Kim was one of three WVC all-state players this year. The senior was key in the Blue Knights&#8217; postseason push to a third straight state playoffs appearance. Kim finished the season with 20 goals and four assists.</p><p><strong>Kyle Greenwood</strong></p><p><strong>So., GK, Dallas</strong></p><p>Greenwood led Dallas to the program&#8217;s first district title since 2007. The Division 1 first-team all-star made 115 saves this season and registered nine shutouts.</p><p><strong>Matthew Davison</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., D, Coughlin</strong></p><p>Davison was a two-year captain, four-year letter winner and two-time WVC first-team all-star during his tenure at Coughlin. The senior helped lead Coughlin to a District 2 3A quarterfinals appearance as a No. 8 seed.</p><p><strong>Nick Wnuk</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., F, Lake-Lehman</strong></p><p>One of Wyoming Valley Conference&#8217;s three all-state players, Wnuk registered 34 points this season, scoring 21 goals and chipping 13 assists. He scored the first of eight goals by the white team in the WVC Coaches Boys Soccer Senior Classic on Nov. 14.</p><p><strong>Stefano Sica</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., F, Tunkhannock</strong></p><p>Sica was a first-team Division 1 player this season, after an impressive senior campaign with 16 goals and nine assists. He finished fourth in the league in points. Sica scored a game-high four goals in the WVC Coaches Boys Soccer Senior Classic on Nov. 14.</p><p><strong>Anthony Khoudary</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., GK, Holy Redeemer</strong></p><p>Named a Division 2 first-team all-star for his performance this season, Khoudary started every game for the Royals, and still found success playing behind three new defenders. The senior made eight saves in Holy Redeemer&#8217;s 3-2 win over Wyoming Seminary in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 Championship.</p><p><strong>Kenneth Marshman</strong></p><p><strong>Jr., M, Berwick</strong></p><p>Marshman was a force for Berwick this season, accounting for 80 percent of his team&#8217;s scoring. Marshman&#8217;s 23 goals and 23 assists was a strong enough effort to help land him on the Division 2 first team.</p><p><strong>Jacob Nargoski</strong></p><p><strong>Sr., F, Meyers</strong></p><p>A Division 2 first-team all-star, Nargoski scored 23 goals and registered 10 assists this season, good for second in Division 2 in points. As the No. 7 seed in the District 2 2A tournament, Nargoski scored one of Meyers&#8217; three goals in the team&#8217;s first-round win over GAR.</p><p><strong>COACH OF THE YEAR</strong></p><p><strong>Chris Scharff</strong></p><p><strong>Dallas</strong></p><p>After resigning last offseason and moving to Florida, Scharff moved back to Pennsylvania and took back his position as Dallas head boys soccer coach in August, just in time to lead the Mountaineers to a District 2 3A title. With eight starters back this season, Scharff guided Dallas to its first District 2 championship since 2007, beating Crestwood 2-0.</p><p>Scharff led a Dallas team that saw three players land on the WVC Division 1 first team &#8212; Greenwood, Llyewellyn and Zach Holthaus &#8212; and a trio of athletes on the second team in Nico Deluca, Nate Maransky and Ricky Wooditch. Dallas was the lone team to win a District 2 title this season.</p><p>After winning the District 2 title, the Mountaineers fell to District 3&#8217;s Daniel Boone in the first round of the PIAA 3A playoffs.</p><style>
