ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Some black and Latino activists dispirited by Donald Trump's election are looking to — and finding inspiration from — longtime leaders of the civil rights movement. Those veterans kept up their fight through the tumultuous 1960s, when their protests were met by police dogs, water hoses and government spying. They say they felt hopeless at times, including after Richard Nixon's election. They urged today's activists to keep fighting for the causes they believe in. The advocates say they are fearful amid uncertainty over voting rights, immigration reform and police shootings. Ambassador Andrew Young, who also worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., during the 1960s, says experience has taught him that the country's strong enough to hold together.
