UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State Extension will offer a workshop to those considering running for local elected office.The &#8220;Toss Your Hat in the Ring&#8221; workshop will be offered as a web-based seminar Tuesdays, Jan. 17 and Jan. 24 and an in-person seminar at various locations throughout the state 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 25, 26 and Feb. 1, 2. A list of locations can be found online at extension.psu.edu/community/ecd/courses/toss-your-hat-in-the-ring.The workshop includes instruction on several facets of running for office, such as filing a nominating petition, reporting campaign expenses and other important information. A panel of local officials will discuss why they decided to run for office and recount some of their experiences.The workshop fee is $25 per person.
