The Latest: Workers demand tough questioning of labor pick

<p>KINGSTON &#8212; A corrections officer&#8217;s employment status at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility has yet to be determined after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/603488/luzerne-county-prison-guard-charged-after-alleged-scuffle-inside-kingston-bar" target="_blank">his involvement in a fight inside a bar in October</a>.</p><p>According to court documents, Nicholas Wilk, 30, entered his pleas to simple assault and disorderly conduct on Jan. 12 before District Judge Paul Roberts. Other charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment were withdrawn. Roberts ordered Wilk to pay a $766 fine.</p><p>Wilk was initially placed in administrative leave without pay due to the charges. He returned to work following his guilty plea as county officials continue to investigate possible additional disciplinary action, the county administration said.</p><p>According to court papers:</p><p>Wilk struck two women inside Ono&#8217;s Bar on Zerby Avenue on Oct. 23. He also shoved a bartender that tried to break up the altercation.</p><p>Police said they later learned the dispute arose as a woman was talking to the wife of William Wilk. William Wilk&#8217;s wife became upset, and an argument turned physical between her, the two victims and a fourth woman who was with the victims. That&#8217;s when Nicholas Wilk got involved in the fight and the bartender attempted to break up the scuffle.</p><p><em>Reporter Jennifer Learn-Andes contributed to this report.</em></p><style>
