PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say they have taken $3.3 million worth of heroin off the streets of Philadelphia in a record drug bust. The joint investigation by the city's district attorney and the Drug Enforcement Agency led to 13 kilograms of heroin, the largest amount ever confiscated by the DA's office. Authorities charged 30-year-old Gheral Alavarez-Mercedes, 26-year-old Zamary Roldan and 26-year-old Johel Pascal-Mateo with possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy. Police watched an apartment on Bingham Street for weeks. Bail has been set at $5 million for each defendant. It's not known if they have lawyers.
