<p>Freezing rain could cause icy conditions in the Wyoming Valley late tonight and early into Tuesday morning.</p><p>The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Luzerne and Lackawanna counties from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday.</p><p>Areas of light freezing rain are expected to develop late tonight. That light freezing rain will persist into Tuesday morning in the higher elevations. For areas like Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, temperatures should rise above freezing before daybreak on Tuesday, which will allow for plain rain.</p><p>A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.</p><p><strong>The forecast</strong></p><p>Temperatures are expected to climb into the 50s as the week begins, but will gradually drop into the midweek.</p><p>The National Weather Service indicated it was 31 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and overcast skies were reported.</p><p>Partly sunny skies are expected to start the new week today, with a high near 38.</p><p>Tonight will bring mostly cloudy skies, along with a 50 percent chance after 1 a.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of total rainfall is expected, and the low will be around 35.</p><p>Rain is likely into Tuesday, with up to a quarter of an inch of total rainfall expected. The high will be near 48.</p><p>That rain will continue to be likely before 10 p.m. Tuesday night, but less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected. Cloudy skies are expected otherwise, and the low will be around 48.</p><p>Mostly cloudy skies are predicted Wednesday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers. The high will be near 50.</p><p>Mostly cloudy skies are expected into Wednesday night, along with a chance of rain and snow before 10 p.m. and a chance of snow overnight.
